Maizuru City Launches Internship Program for Nursing Students to Experience Four Public Hospitals

## Overview

Maizuru City will host the "Maizuru Nurse Internship" three times in August, Reiwa 8 (2026), allowing students to experience four public hospitals within the city. This program allows students to compare multiple medical settings with a single application and includes financial support for travel and accommodation expenses.

This project involves collaboration among Maizuru Medical Center, Maizuru Kyosai Hospital, Maizuru Red Cross Hospital, and Maizuru City Hospital. By experiencing hospitals with different operational structures, nursing students can explore their future career paths in regional healthcare.

Because the secretariat handles coordination with each hospital in a one-stop manner, students do not need to make individual appointments for each facility. To reduce the burden on students coming from afar, the city has established a system to reimburse up to 75% (capped at 30,000 yen) of round-trip travel and accommodation costs for participants living outside the city.

### Dates (3 sessions total, 2 days and 1 night per session)

- August 4 (Tue) – August 5 (Wed), Reiwa 8
- August 18 (Tue) – August 19 (Wed), Reiwa 8
- August 27 (Thu) – August 28 (Fri), Reiwa 8

### Eligibility
Students enrolled in nursing training schools (universities, junior colleges, vocational schools, etc., regardless of grade level).

### Capacity
10 students per session (first-come, first-served).

## Core Programs

### Maizuru Red Cross Hospital
Acute care, community-integrated care, convalescent rehabilitation ward experience, and home nursing experience.

### Maizuru City Hospital
Care for the elderly, observation/experience of in-hospital day care.

### Maizuru Medical Center
Nursing experience for patients with paralysis/aphasia, newborn feeding, and diaper changing.

### Maizuru Kyosai Hospital
Observation of ICU, CCU, and dialysis center; experience in acute and community-integrated wards.
