Deadline Approaching (5/17): Kitakyushu City's Cultural and Artistic Activity Grant "TRY ARTs" Expanded to Max 1 Million Yen, Now Accepting Applications

The Kitakyushu City Art and Culture Promotion Foundation is currently accepting applications for the "Kitakyushu City Cultural and Artistic Next Generation Development Project TRY ARTs" grant program, which supports cultural and artistic activities by citizens. This program supports activities where citizens themselves plan and implement performing arts performances, visual arts exhibitions, etc., and widely deliver arts and culture. Examples of adopted projects from last year: * Satoko Kuwazuka "Iro-oto de Asobo" (Playing with Color and Sound) Invited the unit "Iro-oto," consisting of a musician and an illustrator, as instructors to hold an improvisational music and live painting event for children. * Gekidan Shugo Chikyūn "Reito-shitsu" (Freezer Room) A theatrical performance by a theater company based in Kitakyushu. Staged a new script written by the company's founder. Key points for FY2026: ✔ Prioritizing support for challenging and developmental projects ✔ Actively supporting activities for children and young generations ✔ Significantly increasing the grant ceiling from 300,000 yen to 1,000,000 yen Grant Amount: Up to 1,000,000 yen (within 1/2 of eligible expenses and within the self-funded portion) Activity Period: July 1, 2026 (Wednesday) to February 28, 2027 (Sunday) Application Period: April 1, 2026 (Wednesday) to May 17, 2026 (Sunday), must arrive by this date Application Method: WEB application (submit prescribed forms and activity track record materials) Eligible Activities: Activities that meet all of the following conditions: ✔ Performances of performing arts (music, theater, dance, traditional performing arts, entertainment, etc.) or exhibitions of visual arts (fine arts, photography, film, design, media art, etc.) planned and implemented by citizens themselves. ✔ Primarily held in Kitakyushu City. ✔ Widely open to the public, allowing citizens to participate and appreciate. Eligibility: ✔ Must have an address or base of activity in Kitakyushu City. ✔ Must have a certain track record of activities at the time of application. ✔ Must have regulations such as articles of incorporation or endowment, and have clear representatives, locations, and accounting.
