Kawasaki City will host the "King Skyfront Summer Science Event 2026" on Wednesday, August 5, at King Skyfront, a world-leading research and development hub. Applications for participation in this event will be accepted until Wednesday, July 15.

This event is a hands-on science experience designed for elementary school students, featuring 28 institutions based in King Skyfront, each showcasing their unique scientific and technological activities to engage the public. This year will include 14 guided tours—the largest number since the event adopted its tour-based format—including science experiments ideal for summer vacation learning and experiences with medical devices used in physician training.

Event Overview

Since fiscal year 2013 (Heisei 25), Kawasaki City has hosted the "King Skyfront Summer Science Event" for elementary school students, aiming to make science and technology accessible to the public, with participation from around 80 institutions. This year marks the 12th edition of the event. With strong support from local institutions, the number of participating organizations has increased to 28, the number of tours has grown by 2, and tour capacity has expanded by 81 participants compared to the 11th edition, making this the largest-scale event yet in the tour-based format.

About King Skyfront

King Skyfront is an open innovation hub located in Tonomachi, Kawasaki-ku, Kawasaki City (southwest of Haneda Airport, across the Tama River), dedicated to creating new industries from world-class research and development. Approximately 80 institutions are based here.

The name "King" derives from "Kawasaki INnovation Gateway" and the place name "Tonomachi." "Skyfront" reflects the area's proximity to Haneda Airport and its global connectivity.
