Let's Clean Up Kawasaki Together! "Spring Anti-Littering and Smoking Prevention Campaign" to be Held Around Major City Stations.

Kawasaki City will hold a "Spring Anti-Littering and Smoking Prevention Campaign" around major train stations on May 29 (Friday). This campaign is part of the "Waste Reduction and Recycling Promotion Week" (May 30 – June 5 annually) championed by the Ministry of the Environment, as well as the "Eight-City Collaborative Marine Plastic Waste Reduction Campaign." It aims to raise awareness for resource recycling and environmental beautification. Anyone can participate in the cleaning activities on the day of the event (no registration required). Much of the ocean's plastic originates on land and flows into the sea via rivers. Conducting cleaning activities on land is crucial because it reduces the microplastics flowing into rivers. This year, the city is also participating in the nationwide "Zero Ocean Waste Week" cleaning activities and will use original trash bags for the cleanup. Due to the daily actions of citizens and businesses, Kawasaki City has recorded the lowest daily waste per capita among major designated cities for the second year in a row. This campaign is held to raise awareness and encourage citizens and businesses to continue their efforts. Kawasaki City's daily waste per capita for FY2024 was 705g, below the major city average of 852g. ■ Date and Location Date: May 29, 2026 (Friday), 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM (1 hour) (8:30 AM – 9:30 AM for Saginuma and Shin-yurigaoka Stations) Locations: Kawasaki Ward (JR Kawasaki Station East Exit), Saiwai Ward (JR Kawasaki Station West Exit), Nakahara Ward (Tokyu Musashi-Kosugi Station East Exit), Takatsu Ward (JR Musashi-Mizonokuchi Station North Exit), Miyamae Ward (Tokyu Saginuma Station), Tama Ward (JR Noborito Station Ikuta-Ryokuchi Exit), Asao Ward (Odakyu Shin-yurigaoka Station South Exit) *In case of rain, activities are scheduled to take place in areas with minimal impact. ■ Campaign Activities (1) Encouraging an end to littering and outdoor smoking, and conducting cleaning activities.
