Itabashi City is implementing a program to reduce organic waste across the three stages of food—procurement, consumption, and disposal. As part of its focus on the 'consumption (cooking and eating)' stage, the city will launch the 'Itabashi Tabekiri Recipe Contest' on Thursday, July 16, Reiwa 8.
We are calling for original recipes created from the perspective of remaking leftovers, utilizing commonly leftover ingredients, or making use of parts often discarded—such as vegetable peels or fish bones. Recipes will be judged based on three criteria: contribution to food waste reduction, practicality for broad adoption, and originality.
The Grand Prize winner will receive 10,000 points in the digital local currency 'Itabashi Pay,' followed by 5,000 points for Excellence Award winners, and 3,000 points for Commendable entries.
All participants will also receive 500 points as a participation reward (while supplies last).
Let's reduce food waste with original recipes that make the most of edible ingredients!
