From stations to parks, the entire city becomes a stage.
This event aims to create opportunities for citizens to perform and appreciate music, contributing to the development of cultural arts and regional revitalization. It was held as a roving outdoor festival across 12 venues around Inzai-Makinohara Station (3 venues at Big Hop, 3 venues at Makinohara More, the South Exit Plaza of Makinohara Station, 2 venues at Kusabuka Park, 2 venues at Fureai Culture Hall, and the station front).
On the day of the event, 106 musical groups consisting of 666 musicians of various ages and genres performed. Passionate performances were showcased at each venue, enveloping the entire area in excitement.
Gourmet food and activities add to the visitor-participatory event.
A total of 47 shops, including 15 food trucks, 11 general stores, and 21 flea market stalls, set up at the venue to create a vibrant atmosphere. Furthermore, activities such as a stamp rally where visitors receive prizes for visiting more than 5 locations, sales of official merchandise (T-shirts, muffler towels, wristbands, etc.), and a participant-driven environmental campaign called "Hyoi-Gomi Campaign" were also implemented, ensuring a full day of enjoyment for a wide range of age groups.
Performers take part in operations: The community-created "Music Festival for Everyone".
With the cooperation of Inba Meisei High School, local companies, and individuals, 81 volunteers and 4 supporters participated in operations, supporting the music festival from a community perspective. The biggest feature of this event is that it is a "Music Festival for Everyone" where performers themselves are involved in preparation and operations. Musicians standing on stage also assist with setup and progress management, and the executive committee, performers, and visitors work together across boundaries to create the event. By surpassing the divide between the "delivering side" and the "receiving side" of music, everyone present contributes to the completion of the event. This style of regional co-creation is the unique appeal of this festival.
Born from the pandemic, aiming for a city connected by music.
This event was born in 2020, when holding music events was difficult due to the pandemic, out of the desire to "not stop the music" and the hope that "outdoors is safe for everyone to enjoy." The current style, where performers participate as staff, was established by inheriting the tradition of music events in Inzai. Since the first event in 2022, it has continued to grow in number of performers, attendees, and vendors, celebrating its 5th edition this time. It has developed into a place where music resonates throughout the city and people naturally connect. The Inzai Machinaka Music Festival aims for further expansion and evolution together with the region as a "Music Festival for Everyone".
