[Handa City, Aichi Prefecture] Preserving the Scenery of the Fairy Tale 'Gon, the Little Fox': Local Children Plant Cluster Amaryllis on the Yakatsu River Embankment

The Yakatsu River embankment, the setting for Nankichi Niimi's fairy tale 'Gon, the Little Fox', is covered with red cluster amaryllis over 1.5km in autumn. To preserve this hometown scenery, children from Yanabe Kita Nursery School and Yanabe Elementary School will plant bulbs on May 19 and 20, 2026. This activity, started by Taizo Oguri in 1990 and supported by local volunteers, resumes after a three-year hiatus due to aging members, now led by the NPO Gon's Hometown Network.
