Adachi Ward has developed around Senju, which prospered as a post town during the Edo period. Located in the northeastern part of Tokyo, it is a livable city blessed with rich waterfronts and greenery, including the Arakawa River, alongside urban convenience. With a population of approximately 690,000 (5th among the 23 wards) and an area of approximately 53 km2 (3rd among the 23 wards), the ward has recently been engaged in area design and successfully attracted six universities. The town is undergoing a once-in-a-century transformation, and its charm, a blend of old and new, is attracting media attention.
