Adachi City has developed mainly around Senju, which flourished as a post town in the Edo period. Located in the northeastern part of Tokyo, it is a livable city blessed with the convenience of a metropolis as well as abundant watersides such as the Arakawa River and greenery. The population is about 690,000 (5th among the 23 wards), and the area is about 53 km2 (3rd among the 23 wards). In recent years, it has been working on area design and has successfully attracted 6 universities. The city is facing a once-in-a-century period of change, and its charm, a mix of old and new, is attracting attention from the media.
