Okinawa Chuo High School, Miyakojima City's First Correspondence High School, Holds Its Inaugural Entrance Ceremony

Okinawa Chuo High School (school location: Miyakojima City, Okinawa Prefecture; Principal: Yukio Miyaguni), a wide-area, credit-based correspondence high school operated by Chuo Kokusai Gakuen, held its entrance ceremony on April 5, 2026. This was the first entrance ceremony since the school opened on October 1, 2025, marking a commemorative milestone for the institution.

 On the day, 7 new students (1 absent) and transfer students, along with their guardians, attended. Local assembly members and other related parties also attended as guests, celebrating this new beginning.

Solemn Ceremony and Warm Blessings

The ceremony began with an opening address, followed by a moment of silence, the national anthem, and admission approval. In his principal's address, Principal Miyaguni encouraged each new student, saying, "I hope you will take your first step in this new environment while valuing your unique way of learning."

 Following this, congratulatory remarks were given by the chairman of the board, as well as by guests of honor:
Professor Emeritus Yoichi Akashi of Chiba University, Ms. Kanna Yamauchi, CEO of YOKANG,
and Mr. Katsunori Miyagi, Superintendent of Education for Miyakojima City, who sent warm messages to the new students.

New Students Pledge Their "First Step Forward"

In the new student representative's pledge, expectations and goals for their upcoming high school life were expressed, and the venue erupted in applause. This was followed by introductions of staff and reading of congratulatory telegrams, creating an atmosphere where the entire school warmly welcomed the new students.

 

Special Event Featuring the Sound of Sanshin

As a special event of the ceremony, a sanshin performance by the Sarahama Gakudan Aagu (from left in the photo below: Ryu Fukumura - vocals, sanshin / Yoshiro Hanba - vocals, sanshin / Hirotoshi Ikema - taiko) was presented, filling the venue with the warm, Okinawan sound. It was a memorable moment for the new students and their guardians.

As a School that Walks with the Community

On the day of the ceremony, staff wore original commemorative kariyushi designed by YOKANG. YOKANG is an Okinawan fashion brand that actively incorporates Bingata motifs and offers a range of proud clothing, from casual wear to formal attire and bridal wear.
This commemorative kariyushi, featuring motifs of Irabu Ohashi Bridge and Deigo flowers, added color to the ceremony as attire symbolizing the school's connection with the local community.

Okinawa Chuo High School has welcomed approximately 300 students from all over Japan in April 2026, expanding its role as a place of learning for students from diverse backgrounds.

Moving forward, the school will continue to collaborate with the community, provide an educational environment that supports each student, and create a learning space that brings out their potential.
