Born December 1931 in Tokyo. Poet. Published the poetry collection "Twenty Billion Light Years of Solitude" in 1952. Has continued to write poetry for over 70 years and has received high acclaim both domestically and internationally. Active across genres including playwriting, screenwriting, translation, picture books, lyric writing, and photography. Received the Japan Translation Culture Prize for "Mother Goose no Uta" in 1975, the Yomiuri Literature Prize for "Hibi no Chizu" in 1982, the Hagiwara Sakutaro Prize for "Sekkenchira" in 1993, the Ayukawa Nobuo Prize for "Tromso Collage" in 2010, and the Miyoshi Tatsuji Prize for "Shi ni Tsuite" in 2016. Poetry collections include "Rokujuni no Sonnet," "Tabi," "Yoru Chu ni Daidokoro de Boku wa Kimi ni Hanashikake Takatta," "Hadaka," "Watashi," "Beju," "Kokuu e," and "Doko Kara ka Kotoba ga." Died November 2024.
[Illustrator] Makoto Wada
Born 1936. Graduated from Tama Art University. Served as the cover artist for "Shukan Bunshun" from 1977. As a graphic designer and illustrator, he handled numerous book cover designs and bindings. In addition to receiving numerous awards in the fields of design and painting, such as the Bungei Shunju Manga Award and the Kodansha Publishing Culture Award, he received the Kikuchi Kan Prize for his wide-ranging activities including translation, film directing, and essay writing. His own works, including picture books, exceed 200 titles. Died October 2019.
