Hotel Chourakukan (Maruyama-cho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto; General Manager: Shigehito Yoshida) will begin accepting bookings for 'CORAL Wakon PLAN,' a wedding plan that integrates Japanese ceremonies and Western receptions, starting Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
### A Japanese-Western Wedding Experience in an Important Cultural Property
The main building of Hotel Chourakukan, 'Chourakukan,' was built during the Meiji era as a guest house and is currently designated as a National Important Cultural Property. The building houses a coexistence of spaces that retain Western architectural designs and those with Japanese-style fittings, where a timeless sense of beauty lives on.
In this plan, a traditional ceremony (Shugen) is held in the 'Onari-no-ma,' a Japanese-style room on the 3rd floor that is normally closed to the public. Following the ceremony, a wedding reception is held in 'Terrace CORAL,' a banquet room in the new building. By combining Japanese formality and Western openness within a single facility, we propose a wedding as a cultural experience unique to Kyoto.
### Coloring a Special Day with Cuisine and Space
The reception offers a dessert buffet by the pâtissiers of Dessert Cafe Chourakukan and an original fresh wedding cake created in consultation with the bride and groom. Additionally, Chef Hashimoto of the French restaurant 'FRENCH LE CHENE' prepares a seasonal French course, providing a culinary experience suitable for a celebration. Furthermore, it is possible to use classical tables designated as appendages to the Important Cultural Property as the main table, allowing guests to enjoy the setting unique to a historical space.
