Babies energetically participating in the "Crawling Race"

Chubu Centrair International Airport Co., Ltd. (Location: Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Hironori Kagohashi) held the parent-child participation event "Crawling Race in Centrair" over two days, March 28th (Saturday) and 29th (Sunday), where babies energetically aimed for the goal in the open atmosphere of the airport.

This event was planned with the desire to allow families to enjoy cheering on the adorable crawling of babies, which can only be seen during the limited period before they start walking, and to make their "Centrair debut" a special memory. The "Crawling Race," which has been a particularly popular program among the parent-child participation events "Chibikko Challenge Cup" previously held at Centrair, was held for the first time as a standalone event this time.

Race Highlights

A total of 280 babies participated in the race over two days. As the reservation time approached, babies and their families gathered at the reception one after another, and the venue was filled with a lively atmosphere. The stroller parking area gradually filled up, indicating the high level of attention the event received.

Each race lasted for 2 minutes. After the start, parents were not allowed to touch their babies and could only cheer from the goal side. Parents were seen desperately calling out, "Over here!" and "Come on!" everywhere, and the venue was filled with excitement and smiles.

Babies at the starting line

In the hands of moms and dads were their babies' favorite toys and snacks. Babies crawled hard towards their favorite treats!

At the venue, various adorable and unique scenes were observed: babies standing up to cheer for their friends, babies lying down midway, babies ignoring their parents' cheers, and babies crying. The race, filled with various expressions, became a heartwarming moment overflowing with warm smiles from participants and spectators alike.

After the hard-fought race, the first-place baby was awarded a certificate. All babies also received participation prizes through a no-lose lottery, which included baby wipes, mini towels, and Centrair Friends goods. It was impressive to see all the babies, relieved from the tension of the race, being held by their parents and sweetly indulging.

Participant Voices

Sama Kawai-chan (9 months) and family from Gifu City

We saw the event introduction on Centrair's Instagram and participated with my grandmother. It was great to win first place after a close race. It was my daughter's first time at the airport. I want to travel with everyone from the airport that Mom loves!

Reito Mabuchi-kun and Rioto-kun (1 year old) and family from Gifu City

We were invited by families we met at the maternity hospital and participated together. The twin brothers will turn 1 in a few days, but neither of them crawled a single step until the end, resulting in an unexpectedly unique outcome. Their father is involved in aviation-related work, and this was the first time bringing the children to the airport. Our family had a memorable and enjoyable time.

Organizer's Voice

Tomoya Hasegawa, Retail Planning Group, Commercial Business Department, Chubu Centrair International Airport Co., Ltd.

The "Crawling Race" has been a particularly popular program among the parent-child participation events "Chibikko Challenge Cup" previously held at Centrair. The heartwarming sight of babies crawling along a designated course, aiming for the goal with the cheers of their families, has been very well received by all participants. This time, we held the race as a standalone event for the first time, and many families participated over the two days, filling the venue with babies' smiles and cheers, making it a great success.

Chubu Centrair International Airport will continue to work with the community through various events to make the airport feel more familiar and accessible.
