Cosmo Eco Power Co., Ltd. (President: Fumiaki Nokura), a group company of Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Ltd. (President: Shigeru Yamada), and Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Hideya Morihira, hereinafter "Furukawa Electric") have signed a virtual PPA (hereinafter "this PPA") *1.

The PPA covers the Enshu Wind Power Plant (generation capacity: 6.33 MW) currently under construction by Cosmo Eco Power in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Furukawa Electric will receive environmental value equivalent to approximately 10 million kWh per year from the Enshu Wind Power Plant, expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 4,200 tons annually.

The Furukawa Electric Group's "Furukawa Electric Group Environmental Targets 2030" aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 42% or more by fiscal 2030 (compared to fiscal 2021). Additionally, the "Furukawa Electric Group Environmental Vision 2050" sets a goal of achieving net-zero emissions across the entire value chain, promoting energy-saving equipment, installation of solar power generation facilities at its own production bases, and expanding procurement of renewable energy. This contract with Cosmo Eco Power is part of measures to achieve these goals.

Cosmo Eco Power, as a member of the Cosmo Energy Group, is working to develop and expand the supply of renewable energy, including wind power, towards realizing "2050 Carbon Net Zero." Going forward, it will strengthen collaboration with customers advancing decarbonization and contribute to the promotion of renewable energy and the development of local communities.

*1: Abbreviation for "Power Purchase Agreement," a contract in which consumers purchase renewable energy electricity from power producers over the long term. The virtual PPA is called a virtual power purchase agreement because consumers purchase only the environmental value.
