Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Shigeru Yamada, hereinafter referred to as "the Company") has decided to join the "Industrial Liaison Program (MIT ILP)" offered by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, effective April 1, 2026. Established in 1948, MIT ILP is designed to build strong collaborations with companies worldwide. This marks the first time the Cosmo Energy Group will participate in an industry-academia collaboration program led by an overseas university. The aim is to strengthen access to global research and technology trends and accelerate the speed from business opportunity exploration to project implementation.
Background and Objectives of Participation In its 7th Consolidated Mid-Term Management Plan and its medium- to long-term goal "Vision 2030," the Cosmo Energy Group aims to "strengthen the competitiveness and decarbonize the oil business" and "expand next-generation energy." Domestically, we have been developing a business exploration system through collaboration with venture capital firms and other entities. On the other hand, against the backdrop of advancing energy transition and the sophistication of AI technology, there is a growing need to further enhance opportunities for business creation on a global scale and to improve the sophistication of deliberation and decision-making through dialogue with cutting-edge researchers. In light of these circumstances, we have decided to join MIT ILP to leverage the cutting-edge research knowledge and global network of MIT, a world-leading research institution. Through this participation, we aim to discover and acquire innovative technological seeds that transcend the boundaries of existing businesses in a wide range of fields, including energy, materials, bio, and AI/IoT.
