[Hokuriku Bank] Digital Local Currency Service "Tochi-Tsuka" Surpasses 200,000 Registrations! Approximately 1 in 5 Ishikawa Prefecture Residents Aged 15 and Over Are Registered

Hokuriku Bank, Ltd. (President and CEO: Haruhiko Yoneya) is pleased to announce that its digital local currency service "Tochi-Tsuka," launched in April 2024, has surpassed 200,000 registered users.

This means that approximately 21% of Ishikawa Prefecture's population aged 15 and over, or about 1 in 5 people (※), are now using the service. Tochi-Tsuka is becoming deeply integrated into the daily lives of prefectural residents as a local currency, and continues to grow as an infrastructure supporting regional cashless and digital initiatives.

Furthermore, the "Receive with Tochi-Tsuka: Ishikawa Living Support, Total Equivalent of 7,000 Yen" initiative, a collaborative project with Ishikawa Prefecture, is ongoing and has garnered significant interest from many individuals.

Moving forward, we will continue to promote the circulation of the regional economy through further improvements in user experience and expansion of affiliated stores, while also contributing to increased productivity throughout the region by promoting cashless transactions and the digitalization of administrative services.

While digital local currencies are often perceived as difficult to operate and targeted towards younger demographics, "Tochi-Tsuka" has seen steady growth in everyday shopping use due to the sense of security provided by it being a payment app offered by a financial institution, penetrating a wide range of generations.

In addition, we are continuously providing in-person support for registration and usage at special booths set up in various locations, leading to increased adoption among seniors, including those in their 60s and 70s. Through this face-to-face support, we are creating an environment where even first-time users can feel at ease, so please take advantage of it.

2. Tochi-Tsuka Affiliated Stores

Tochi-Tsuka Affiliated Stores: 3,589 stores (as of June 29, 2026)

As a result of creating an environment that is easy for affiliated stores to adopt, including setting internationally low payment fees, adoption has expanded beyond local restaurants, bookstores, and department stores to include supermarkets and drugstores with multiple branches within the prefecture. Additionally, it is now possible to use the service at some Seven-Eleven stores in the prefecture. Since surpassing 3,000 stores in April 2026, the number of affiliated stores has increased by approximately 500 in less than three months, exceeding 3,500 stores, further expanding the opportunities for use.
