Born in 1977. Photographer. Graduated from Doshisha University Faculty of Law. After working as a staff photographer for a publishing company, he became independent in 2004. From 2010 to 2012, he embarked on a journey of 1021 days across 103 countries, publishing the photo book "Walkabout" (Shogakukan) and the travelogue "The Songlines" (Shogakukan). In 2015, his photo exhibition "Land" held in New York, USA, received much media attention and acclaim.
His latest series, "Uruma Takezawa Photo Book BOUNDARY|Chushin" (Seigensha), following "Uruma Takezawa Photo Book BOUNDARY|Kyokai" (Seigensha), which captured the landscapes of Iceland, was released in December 2025. He travels the world taking photographs, with "Earth" as his main theme. This also includes "humans" existing as part of the Earth. Winner of the 3rd National Geographic Photography Award Grand Prix. Visiting Professor at Osaka University of Arts.
"Uruma" means coral island in Okinawan, stemming from his encounter with the Okinawan sea, which inspired him to start photography.
