Kyoto Okazaki Tsutaya Books (Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) will host "Wakuwaku Doubutsu Dasaland," an exhibition by Kyoto-based illustrator couple Reiko Tada and Akimichi Shimodaira, at the GALLERY EN Wall inside the store from Saturday, April 11, 2026, to Wednesday, May 6 (public holiday). "Dasara" is an upcycling project by the duo, where they paint on dusty tableware found in recycle shops, sending them off on a new journey. Plates that were once "out of commission" reappear in new attire. Perhaps you might even be reunited with the tableware you let go of that day. ZINEs, goods, and illustration works from "GOLDEN BUTTER BOOKS," an independent press by Reiko Tada and Akimichi Shimodaira, will also be available for sale at the venue. Please come and visit us.

Regarding this exhibition
The "Dasara" project, where forgotten tableware from recycle shops are "fed" (painted) to embark on a wonderful new life, is coming to the GALLERY EN Wall at Kyoto Okazaki Tsutaya Books. The theme this time is "animals." Dogs and cats will be waiting for you, dancing whimsical waltzes and tangos on the plates. Each "Dasara" is one-of-a-kind, the best for making your meals delicious. We hope you'll enjoy them.
