Capcom's Latest Sword-Fighting Action Game 'Onimusha: Way of the Sword' Comes to Nintendo Switch 2; Launch Set for September 25, 2026, Same Day as Previously Announced Platforms

Capcom's brand-new title in the sword-fighting action series, 'Onimusha: Way of the Sword', is coming to the Nintendo Switch™ 2. The release date has been set for Friday, September 25, 2026, the same day as the previously announced platforms, and pre-orders have started today. Furthermore, the game will support intuitive motion controls using the 'Joy-Con™ 2'. In addition to standard controller operation, players can swing the 'Joy-Con 2' to perform various actions.

What is 'Onimusha: Way of the Sword'?

This game is a completely new title in the 'Onimusha' series, set in early Edo-period Kyoto, a city overrun by grotesque demons called 'Genma'. It depicts a bloody tale of swordplay featuring the protagonist, Miyamoto Musashi, who has gained the power of the Oni (demon). Players can enjoy the 'ultimate sword-fighting action' with realistic cutting sensations, unprecedented tension and exhilaration from clashing blades, and superhuman actions awakened by the power of the Oni.
