Canva Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of Canva, a provider of easy-to-use design tools, announces the launch of 'Canva Design Camp', a nationwide training program aimed at establishing educational DX and further promoting utilization by teachers in municipalities that have already introduced Canva for Education (for local governments).
Background: Responding to the 'GIGA School Initiative Phase 2' to deepen learning quality
In Japanese education, after the completion of device deployment in 'Phase 1', the focus has shifted to 'Phase 2 (GIGA 2.0)', which emphasizes how to effectively incorporate these devices into educational activities.
Canva has been introduced in over 1,000 municipalities in Japan, making it available to a large number of children and teachers. However, amidst daily busy work, acquiring practical know-how on how to use the tool in classes and school affairs has become a common challenge. Canva believes that solving this challenge and creating an environment where all teachers can confidently use ICT will cultivate children's creativity, and thus launched this project.
Overview of Canva Design Camp
This program, led by Canva, delivers practical utilization know-how directly to educational sites nationwide. It establishes both online and offline support systems, offering flexible assistance tailored to the needs of each region and school.
Providing 'tangible confidence' through face-to-face workshops To convey operational tips that are difficult to understand via screens and support specific use in classes and school affairs, the program emphasizes face-to-face training where instructors visit the site directly. It helps teachers gain the confidence that 'I can use this from tomorrow' and take their first step in utilization.
Balancing work style reform for teachers and 'creative learning' Going beyond mere tool operation explanations, the curriculum aims to both create 'time for teachers' through efficient school affairs and realize 'individualized and collaborative learning' where children are the protagonists.
Operational support tailored to the needs of municipalities and schools From selecting training courses according to the actual ICT usage of teachers in each municipality to follow-up after implementation, Canva provides side-by-side support. It accelerates educational DX across the region while minimizing the burden on local boards of education.

Future Outlook
Through this program, Canva will strongly support the 'utilization and establishment' in educational sites across Japan. In the future, not only will they expand functions, but they will continue to provide support programs optimized for Japanese educational culture, contributing as a partner to open up the future of education with the power of design.
