Overview Canva Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of the global design platform Canva, has announced the original web series 'I Prefer the Sunset Over Any Beautiful Sunrise,' starring Tatsuki Daito of CLASS SEVEN (TOBE) and actress Shiori Akita. The series will begin streaming on the official Canva YouTube channel on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Prior to the premiere, a teaser trailer and key visual will be released on Friday, May 22.

Plot and Themes Set in Year 3, Class B of Asahi High School, this original story follows a group of students, including a male 'otaku,' a former idol trainee, and members of a band. It is a coming-of-age creative drama that explores how digital natives overcome social hierarchy ('school caste') using the power of design and music to work towards a common goal.

Experiential Tutorial Drama As the second installment of Canva's tutorial drama series, it is designed to help viewers naturally learn how to use Canva while enjoying a compelling narrative. By the end of the series, viewers are encouraged to take their own first steps into creativity.

Synopsis Protagonist Hayate Uchimura, a tech-savvy 'otaku,' is passionate about creating fan visuals for the idol group 'Parallel Planet' using Canva. When former idol trainee Miyu Umesaki transfers into his class, the two, who seem polar opposites, begin to bond through the common language of design. Their interaction eventually moves the entire class toward a shared vision.

Cast and Crew The cast includes all members of CLASS SEVEN, alongside returning characters such as Sakura Nakano (played by Karen Ishikawa), the staff of the 'Nakanoya' bakery (Mana Mikura, Shin Shimizu), and band member Ken Aizawa (Hito Yoshida). The series is written and directed by Yoshifumi Udo, who also helmed the previous Canva drama, 'Dear, the Shopping District and I are Doing Great Today.'
