Canva Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of Canva—a design tool that anyone can easily use—has announced that it has become the official 'Oshikatsu' (fan support) design partner for Japan's largest survival audition program, 'PRODUCE 101 JAPAN THE NEW WORLD' (exclusively streamed on Lemino). This partnership marks a strategic milestone for Canva's entry into Japan's rapidly growing Oshikatsu market (estimated size: 3.5 trillion yen).
With this partnership, Canva, as the first official partner in the realm of Oshikatsu culture, will begin offering limited templates using licensed images of the trainees. This makes it possible for enthusiastic fans to easily create creative support materials with peace of mind using officially recognized image assets.
Japan's Oshikatsu culture has become increasingly active in the entertainment industry in recent years, forming a creative consumer base centered around the youth and developing into a social phenomenon. Meanwhile, there is a growing layer of fans who spend time and money to create original goods themselves, in addition to collecting merchandise and posting on social media. Against this backdrop, Canva establishes its position not merely as a sponsorship, but as an official platform directly supporting the creativity deeply rooted in fan culture.
Through this partnership, Canva has acquired the rights to use the official images of all 101 trainees. By turning these images into templates on Canva's platform, an environment is created where fans can use official materials safely without worrying about licensing when creating support items. Additionally, from April 2 onwards, when the second episode is streamed, a banner leading to Canva's template library and a link will be available on the official PRODUCE 101 JAPAN website...
