Canon Marketing Japan and FREE Jointly Receive "Grand Prize" at the 12th Japan Resilience Award 2026 for Water Circulation Solution Initiatives

Canon Marketing Japan Inc. (President: Masachika Adachi, hereinafter Canon MJ) and FREE Inc. (Representative Director: Yuji Takahashi, hereinafter FREE) jointly received the "Grand Prize" at the "Japan Resilience Award (Resilience Grand Prize) 2026," organized by the Resilience Japan Promotion Council (Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Michiaki Hirose, hereinafter Resilience Japan Promotion Council), along with partner companies such as Chodai Co., Ltd. and Shokei Co., Ltd. Their initiatives for the social implementation of a water circulation solution, centered on atmospheric water generators promoted in collaboration with each company, were highly evaluated, leading to this award.

The "Japan Resilience Award (Resilience Grand Prize)" is an award system organized by the Resilience Japan Promotion Council. It aims to discover, evaluate, and commend advanced initiatives such as activities, technology development, and product development that contribute to building a resilient nation, region, people, and industry, with the goal of creating a resilient society for the next generation (a society that can strongly and flexibly respond to and recover from disasters). This award is established under the National Resilience Promotion Headquarters (Headquarters: Prime Minister) to further promote private sector initiatives contributing to national resilience, with awards such as the Prime Minister's Award and the Minister in charge of National Resilience Award.

Canon MJ, through collaboration with multiple companies, was evaluated as an initiative possessing resilience, public utility, and sustainability among numerous applicant companies and organizations, and jointly received the "Grand Prize."

Overview of the Award-Winning Initiative

The awarded water circulation solution is a self-sustaining, decentralized water infrastructure that combines water circulation technologies, such as purification and reuse of domestic wastewater, with atmospheric water generators that produce safe drinking water from atmospheric moisture. By utilizing solar panels and storage batteries, it can operate independently of infrastructure such as water and sewage systems and commercial power.

This enables daily use in various facilities such as public facilities and offices during normal times, and also provides a mechanism to independently secure water even during water outages caused by disasters.

Against the backdrop of societal challenges such as aging infrastructure and population decline, it aims to improve the overall resilience of society as a sustainable water supply model.

In addition to sales verification of building-type solutions permanently installed in facilities and regions, we will promote demonstration of mobile solutions that can be moved and utilized where needed, expand our product lineup according to applications and introduction scenarios, and accelerate efforts toward commercialization. Furthermore, aiming to contribute to disaster prevention and infrastructure resilience, we will promote social implementation in a wide range of areas, responding to needs in tourism and welfare fields, starting with local governments. Going forward, starting with regional development centered on Gifu Prefecture, where demonstration experiments are being promoted, we will expand deployment to inland areas and areas with infrastructure constraints in collaboration with local governments and private businesses, thereby contributing to the realization of a disaster-resilient and sustainable society through the social implementation of decentralized infrastructure.
