Canon Marketing Japan Inc. (President: Masachika Adachi, hereinafter Canon MJ) and Primagest Inc. (President: Hideaki Inagaki, hereinafter Primagest) have introduced an "Identity Verification Support Solution" to Chiba Kogyo Bank, Ltd. (President: Hitoshi Umeda, hereinafter Chiba Kogyo Bank) to strengthen the reliability of identity verification at branch counters. Operations will commence sequentially at all Chiba Kogyo Bank branches starting in May 2026. This solution supports IC chip reading of identity verification documents and the Public Personal Authentication Service (JPKI※1) utilizing My Number cards, thereby enhancing security and improving operational efficiency for face-to-face transactions at business branches.
In recent years, financial crimes such as impersonation, fraudulent account opening, and special fraud have increased, making the strict enforcement of identity verification an urgent task. Against this backdrop, the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds (hereinafter the Act) has been revised, and from April 2027, IC chip reading of identity verification documents will be mandatory even for face-to-face procedures. In future face-to-face transactions, more stringent identity verification will be required, and identity verification using Public Personal Authentication (JPKI※1) is recommended. Regional banks and credit unions need to maintain community-based services while ensuring compliance with laws and implementing advanced security measures with limited personnel, thus requiring both safety and operational efficiency.
In response to these challenges, Canon MJ has been deploying the "Identity Verification Support Solution" compatible with the revised Act since November 2024, and it has been adopted by major financial institutions.
This solution is a service that optimizes the process of identity verification, including authenticity determination of identity verification documents through IC chip reading, face authentication, and Public Personal Authentication (JPKI). Furthermore, by enabling easy implementation into existing financial institution systems through Software Development Kit (SDK) and API integration, it can be flexibly constructed according to customer needs.
Chiba Kogyo Bank has now introduced this solution and started identity verification using the Public Personal Authentication Service (JPKI) at its counters. This will strengthen security and, by linking read data and inquiry results to the accounting system, streamline account opening and various procedures, thereby reducing the burden on counter operations.
Canon MJ and Primagest will accelerate the deployment of the "Identity Verification Support Solution" to financial institutions, including regional banks and credit unions, and will continue to support the promotion of DX in regional financial institutions and the realization of safe and secure financial transactions.
