Certified NPO Cancer Net Japan (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Satoshi Iwase) is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 8th "Lemonade Stand Grant" for projects aimed at improving treatment outcomes for childhood cancer.
1. Purpose of Lemonade Stand Japan Grant
NPO Cancer Net Japan established the Lemonade Stand Japan Secretariat in July 2013 to support childhood cancer treatment research and AYA (Adolescent and Young Adult) generation cancer survivors. The Lemonade Stand initiative began in 1996 when a young girl with childhood cancer in America, wanting to raise funds for childhood cancer treatment research, set up a lemonade stand in her home garage, selling cups for 50 cents. Although the girl passed away at the age of 8, her wish spread across the United States, and now it is gaining popularity in Japan as well.
The Lemonade Stand Japan Secretariat supports the holding of lemonade stands in various locations by providing operational manuals and WEB announcements. The donations collected from lemonade stands across the country are used to support childhood cancer treatment research and AYA generation cancer survivors.
