Calbee Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Makoto Ehara) will launch "Kagayaki Potato Roasted Corn Flavor," a product developed from fan ideas, for a limited time nationwide starting July 13, 2026 (Mon.) at convenience stores. The product will be available at other stores nationwide starting July 20, 2026 (Mon.) for a limited time.
[Background of Launch]
Kagayaki Potato is a potato chip developed by inheriting the traditional kettle-cooked method said to have originated in the United States in the mid-19th century. It first appeared in Hokkaido on November 8, 1993, and gradually expanded its sales area. It became available nationwide in 2005 and has been a long-selling brand for over 30 years since its launch. By carefully frying thickly sliced potatoes, it achieves a firm texture and allows consumers to enjoy the potato flavor with every bite, making it loved by many. In addition to standard flavors such as "Light Salt," "Black Pepper," and "Roasted Seaweed," various limited-time flavors have been developed.
"Kagayaki Potato Roasted Corn Flavor" uses Hokkaido-grown corn* to recreate the classic summer taste. The packaging features a "Connected by Two" Katsushika Hokusai design, "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji: Eastern Capital Asakusa Hongan-ji Temple," chosen by vote from the Kagayaki Potato fan community, the "Kagayaki Potato Support Club" (hereinafter referred to as the "Support Club"). The design was decided based on feedback such as "Hokusai means Mount Fuji," "It's powerful and intriguing," and "It's a refreshing summer design" (excerpt). The impact of the composition, the iconic Mount Fuji, and the seasonal color scheme were highly rated. With its refreshing summer coloring and bold design that leaves a lasting impression, this Kagayaki Potato stands out on store shelves.
*Hokkaido-grown corn is used for the corn powder.

[Artwork Used on Packaging]
• Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji: Eastern Capital Asakusa Hongan-ji Temple (Tōto Asakusa Hongan-ji)
The large roof of Asakusa Hongan-ji Temple (Higashi Hongan-ji Temple) was a landmark frequently depicted in ukiyo-e prints. Hokusai placed the large roof in the foreground of the composition, emphasizing its immense size by depicting tile workers, kites, and Mount Fuji on a small scale.
