Cainz Corporation (Headquarters: Honjo City, Saitama Prefecture; President and CEO: Masayuki Takaya) is pleased to announce the signing of a 'Comprehensive Partnership Agreement' (hereinafter referred to as 'this Agreement') with Tsurugashima City, Saitama Prefecture, on Thursday, March 26, 2026. The purpose of this Agreement is for Tsurugashima City and Cainz to mutually cooperate and collaborate in fields such as disaster preparedness, environmental measures, child-rearing support, health promotion, and industrial development, aiming to realize a local community where citizens can live with peace of mind and to promote regional revitalization.

Under the brand concept of 'Kurashi DIY' (Life DIY), Cainz aims to make each individual's life more enjoyable through creativity and ingenuity, delivering valuable products and services at affordable prices every day. This philosophy also connects to the realization of the 'Kumimachi Concept,' a vision for community co-creation established in October 2021, through which the company addresses the various challenges and needs of regions and lifestyles in Japan.

In Tsurugashima City, we have already collaborated in various fields, including a goods agreement for disaster relief, traffic safety and crime prevention awareness, and welfare partnerships. In particular, the Cainz Tsurugashima store, as one of the largest flagship stores in the region, functions as a hub connecting the administration, citizens, and local businesses.

Through this Agreement, we aim to further deepen our co-creation with Tsurugashima City towards the realization of the 'Kumimachi Concept' of 'DIYing our town's life together.' By advancing initiatives in a wide range of areas, we hope to contribute to the revitalization and development of the region.

Cooperative Items of this Agreement

We will cooperate and collaborate on the following seven items.

(1) Matters related to disaster preparedness.
(2) Matters related to environmental measures.
(3) Matters related to the development of children and child-rearing support.
(4) Matters related to health promotion.
(5) Matters related to industrial promotion.
(6) Matters related to city promotion.
(7) Other matters related to improving citizen services and revitalizing the region.

Major Initiatives in Co-creation and Collaboration with Tsurugashima City

Strengthening the Supply of Daily Necessities During Disasters and Peacetime Disaster Prevention Collaboration

Based on the 'Agreement on Cooperation in Supplying Daily Necessities During Disasters' concluded in 2012, in the event of a disaster, we will supply daily necessities, work supplies, and other items from our distribution warehouses and stores upon request from Tsurugashima City. Concurrently, through cooperation in peacetime disaster prevention measures, we are working to improve the region's disaster preparedness capabilities.

Support for Heatstroke Prevention and Health Promotion Utilizing Stores

In recent years, intense heat has become a severe risk comparable to a disaster, and the importance of heatstroke prevention is increasing. At the Tsurugashima store, the in-store food court is planned to be available during business hours as a 'cooling shelter' where citizens can spend time in comfort. Additionally, we plan to utilize store space to hold health-related events and courses, supporting the health promotion of our citizens.

Promotion of Resource Recycling and Enhancement of Environmental Awareness

Prior to this agreement, on Saturday, March 7 of this year, the Tsurugashima store began a free collection service for unneeded gardening soil from households. The collected soil is reprocessed and reborn as part of the raw material for new gardening soil. We are building a system that allows citizens to participate in resource recycling without worrying about disposal methods, contributing to solving Tsurugashima City's challenges such as suppressing illegal dumping and reducing disposal costs.

Furthermore, we plan to work on enhancing environmental awareness together with the citizens by participating in future regional events.

We will continue to promote initiatives that contribute to regional revitalization and development through co-creation and collaboration with the people of Tsurugashima City and other local communities.

About the 'Kumimachi Concept'

'Let's all DIY our town's life.'

Since its founding, Cainz has been guided by the aspiration to 'contribute to the development of society through commerce.' This unique concept involves each store working closely with the lives of everyone in their respective communities. The stores and their members (employees) act as hubs, carefully listening to the concerns, interests, and needs of each region. By collaborating and co-creating with various stakeholders involved in daily life, we aim to realize a 'town' (≒ local community) where people can be independent, enjoy life together, help each other, and where every individual can be a protagonist.
