BRISTOL, UK - Aardman Animations, the multi-award-winning independent animation studio, has announced the appointment of CAA Brand Management, the licensing and consumer products division of leading global entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA), as its brand licensing, partnerships, live events, and promotional program agency for Japan and Greater China (including Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau), effective April 1.
This appointment reflects Aardman Animations' ambition for further growth in the Asian market. The studio's brands, such as "Shaun the Sheep" and "Wallace & Gromit," have shown strong awareness and growing popularity in the region, and this move will further solidify that foundation.
CAA Brand Management, which excels in high-quality brand development and management, has an extensive track record across various sectors and services. The company will oversee Aardman's entire brand licensing business in the target territories, developing and implementing local strategies across consumer products, digital, and live events. Through this partnership, grounded in high-quality content, merchandise, and fan-focused strategies, Aardman aims to reach new and untapped demographics and deepen engagement with existing fans. Furthermore, by strengthening support for key licensee partners and acquiring new ones, Aardman will elevate its presence in Asia.
Alison Taylor, Director of Licensing & Distribution at Aardman, commented: "We are thrilled to partner with CAA Brand Management in key Asian markets. Our brands already enjoy a strong and loyal fan base in Japan and China, but this partnership will allow us to accelerate that momentum by leveraging their local expertise. We believe there is a massive opportunity to deepen our relationship with consumers and achieve sustainable, long-term growth across Asia by exploring new categories and partnerships."
Rommel Maranon, Vice President of Asia Brand Management at CAA Brand Management, said: "It is a tremendous honor to team up with Aardman Animations to represent such beloved and iconic brands in Asia. Utilizing our regional expertise and global network, we will help Aardman create new consumer touchpoints and build meaningful connections with fans. Across Aardman's entire portfolio, including 'Shaun the Sheep' and 'Wallace & Gromit,' we look forward to working together to deliver innovative brand experiences and achieve long-term growth."
This appointment follows Aardman's recent strengthening of its licensing and consumer products team (with Alison Taylor's promotion to Director). CAA Brand Management will report to her and work closely with the senior management of the brand and licensing team, including Nio Harding-Hill, Director of Attractions & Live Experiences; Kenny England, Director of Digital, Social & Community; and Amy Pearson, Director of Brand Marketing & PR.
Previously, Aardman Animations' licensing operations were handled by TFC in Japan and U-Young in China.
