Hinode Town, Seibu Shinkin Bank, and Bywill Conclude Partnership Agreement on Environmental Value

Bywill Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Yuichiro Shimomura; hereinafter "Bywill"), which aims to create a "world where people want to engage in GX (Green Transformation)" and promotes an economic cycle utilizing environmental value, has concluded a partnership agreement on environmental value with Hinode Town, Tokyo (Mayor: Toru Azuma; hereinafter "Hinode Town") and Seibu Shinkin Bank (Head Office: Nakano-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Ichiro Takahashi). Based on this agreement, the three parties will work on the creation and distribution of environmental value, including J-Credits (*1), and the creation of new business models. J-Credits are greenhouse gas emission reductions and absorption amounts (such as CO2) obtained through decarbonization activities by businesses, such as the introduction of energy-saving equipment and the utilization of renewable energy, certified by the government as "credits." Issued credits can be sold to other companies, and purchasers can use them for carbon offsetting. [Contents of the Agreement] The three parties will cooperate on the following matters with the aim of contributing to the realization of carbon neutrality and a circular economy in the region: (1) Provision of information, services, and know-how related to environmental value (2) Creation of new business models utilizing environmental value (3) Other matters deemed by the parties to contribute to the purpose of this agreement [Background of the Agreement] Hinode Town created the "Hinode Town Regional New Energy Detailed Vision Report" in February 2006 to address environmental issues. To realize this, with support from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government since fiscal year 2009, the town and its residents have been working together on environmental issues, including the installation of solar power generation systems and solar thermal utilization systems in public welfare facilities (*2). Furthermore, Seibu Shinkin Bank and Bywill concluded a customer referral agreement (*3) on December 16, 2024, and have been working together to achieve regional decarbonization. Collaboration Begins for Regional Decarbonization Promotion and Carbon Neutrality (https://www.bywill.co.jp/news/20241217) [Future Outlook] Aiming for decarbonization in Hinode Town, the three parties will collaborate to promote the creation and distribution of J-Credits. Regarding J-Credit creation methods (methodologies), they are considering starting with LED conversion of public facilities, credit creation by recipients of the town's unique eco-housing subsidies, and the introduction of air conditioners in elementary and junior high school gymnasiums, with plans to expand to other methodologies thereafter. Bywill will seamlessly support Hinode Town's J-Credit creation project, from registration and application to monitoring and sales of created credits. For sales, Bywill will also cooperate with Seibu Shinkin Bank to promote regional decarbonization, including Hinode Town, through "local production for local consumption."
