BuySell to Recruit Franchise Stores Nationwide

BuySell Technologies Co., Ltd., which operates the reuse service "BuySell," will begin recruiting new franchise stores for its "BuySell" brand of buy-and-collect stores starting July 2026.

This franchise business inherits the know-how of operating buy-and-collect stores for the "WAKABA" brand from Four Nine Inc., which became a subsidiary in 2022 and was integrated in January 2026. This marks the first time the "BuySell" brand will recruit franchise members.

In conjunction with the start of new recruitment, a campaign offering royalty-free periods for the first 30 franchise members will be held simultaneously.

Background for Recruitment Launch

The reuse market continues to expand, and is estimated to reach approximately 3.5 trillion yen by 2025 (*1). Furthermore, the roadmap (*2) formulated by the Ministry of the Environment in 2025 sets a target of 4.6 trillion yen in market size and a reuse rate of 50% by 2030, positioning reuse as a growth area within national policy.

BuySell Technologies Co., Ltd. has been expanding its buy-and-collect stores through aggressive M&A while developing its reuse business nationwide, primarily through in-home appraisals. In 2022, it acquired Four Nine Inc. as a subsidiary, thereby acquiring the buy-and-collect store franchise business of "WAKABA."

"WAKABA" is a franchise business that excels in its store opening strategy focused on secondary locations rather than prime spots like near train stations, and its thorough startup support by headquarters supervisors. It currently operates over 300 stores. With the success of the business and trust in the headquarters, one out of every two owners is expanding to multiple stores.

In January 2026, the company underwent a reorganization of its group companies, unifying the brands of its multiple directly managed stores under "BuySell." With this brand unification, starting July 2026, the company will begin recruiting for buy-and-collect store franchises under the "BuySell" brand. In addition to the know-how cultivated with WAKABA, it will offer franchise owners compliance systems and brand power that meet listed company standards.

Going forward, the company aims to expand the total number of buy-and-collect stores, including directly managed stores and franchise stores across multiple brands within the group, to 650 stores by the end of 2027, by promoting recruitment of franchise members alongside directly managed stores.
