Bungeishunju Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Shigeyuki Iikubo) has announced the release of 'Octopus, Celery, Avocado,' the first essay collection by the most trending culinary expert and registered dietitian of the moment, Akari Hasegawa.
◼︎ First Essay Collection from Culinary Expert/Registered Dietitian Akari Hasegawa to be Released!
Last September, Ms. Hasegawa’s X (formerly Twitter) following grew from 400,000 to over 900,000 after her “Sake-Steamed Hamburg Steak” recipe went viral. During her childhood, she was active as a child actor, appearing on programs such as E-Tele’s 'Tensai Terebi-kun.' After retiring from the entertainment industry, she pursued higher education and earned her qualification as a registered dietitian. Currently, she is a popular culinary expert active in publishing numerous recipe books and contributing to magazines and web media.
Her first essay collection, 'Octopus, Celery, Avocado,' is set for publication on June 10. The book is filled with the origins of how Ms. Hasegawa became a culinary researcher, covering topics such as her childhood eating habits, stories from her time as a child actor, meals with her family, her first encounter with recipe books, and the story of the rice balls she made for her friends. The book also includes recipes from her mother that she enjoyed as a child, as well as simple, “nameless” recipes she makes on her days off. Please look forward to it!
◼︎ Comment from Akari Hasegawa
My first essay collection, which I have been diligently writing over time, is being published.
What I have eaten since I was a child, what I like, and how I have approached cooking. How I have been fulfilled and saved by cooking and recipes.
By looking back on these things in this book, I hope to convey my thoughts on cooking and recipes once again.

Its spin-off special, 'THE RULES,' maintains the concept of 'Seven Rules' but, rather than being bound by a specific number, uncovers the “rules” from a person’s lifestyle and way of living, unraveling why they are so particular about them.
