The exhibition "The Miracle of Gaze: The Adventure of Japanese Women Photographers," bringing together 30 pioneering female photographers who have played a vital role in shaping Japan's photographic and art history since the 1950s through diverse expressions and techniques, will be held from July 4 (Sat) to August 26 (Wed) at Hikarie Hall (9F, Shibuya Hikarie).

Originally launched in 2024 as "I’m So Happy You Are Here: Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now" in Arles, France, the exhibition has since toured The Hague, Netherlands, and Frankfurt, Germany. It is scheduled to open at The Photographers' Gallery in London, UK, on June 24, 2026 (Wed). Now, the Japanese iteration—"The Miracle of Gaze: The Adventure of Japanese Women Photographers" (hereafter "The Miracle of Gaze")—will finally open in Japan at Shibuya Hikarie on July 4 (Sat). Following this, a U.S. tour stop at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York City has been confirmed for October.

While the original exhibition continues its journey across Europe and the U.S., the Japanese version expands with four additional featured artists, making "The Miracle of Gaze" the largest-scale exhibition in history dedicated to Japanese women photographers. Don’t miss the unique spatial installations and video projections made possible by the expansive Hikarie Hall—experiences available exclusively at this venue.
