PLUS Corporation, headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo and led by President Tadahisa Imaizumi, will exhibit at ORGATEC TOKYO 2026, one of Japan’s largest office furniture trade fairs, to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from Tuesday, June 2 to Thursday, June 4, 2026. The company’s exhibition concept is “my Igokochi Making.” As work styles and workplace options continue to diversify, the office has become widely recognized as an ideal place for connection. At the same time, a PLUS survey conducted in March 2026 with 500 respondents found that about 70% of workers experience “exhausting connections” caused by unexpected interruptions, prolonged casual conversations, and unfocused meetings. In response, PLUS will propose mechanisms for appropriately “stepping away” while pursuing optimal forms of connection that generate synergy. The booth will present an experiential environment where each person can cultivate their own sense of comfort, showing how stepping away from exhausting connections can lead to more focused collaboration, proactive teamwork, and deeper dialogue. Through its proprietary “Igokochi Verification” initiative, PLUS found that autonomously controlling three elements, “presence,” “orientation,” and “space,” is effective for appropriately stepping away in ways that support synergistic connection. Visitors will be invited to experience booth areas built around these three modes of separation and reconsider the optimal distance between “connecting” and “stepping away” in the office. For “presence,” PLUS will show how partially blocking visual distractions and gazes from behind can deepen immersion while remaining within a lively environment. Its survey found that people want to block visual noise during detailed tasks and shield themselves from gazes behind them when thinking or developing ideas. The booth will feature screens that can block visual noise and the feeling of being stared at from either the front or back, proposing ways to partially separate only in the direction needed for each type of work while avoiding isolation and turning surrounding energy into moderate stimulation. For “orientation,” PLUS will propose “forward-facing meetings” in which both posture and discussion naturally turn forward. Many people have experienced meetings where everyone is physically gathered but looking down at laptop screens, or where an incoming chat message prompts an immediate reply. Igokochi Verification showed that members who do not have the speaker within their field of view are less likely to look up or react to what is being said. Participation may be influenced more by layout than by individual motivation. PLUS will propose a meeting style that removes unnecessary information from discussion and encourages everyone to raise their faces, with both posture and mindset directed forward. For “space,” PLUS will demonstrate how physical room for movement can energize conversation. Observations of sofa-based dialogue in Igokochi Verification showed participants shifting conversational modes through body movement, such as leaning forward to listen, leaning back to laugh, or sitting deeply to think, while adjusting their distance from the person across from them. Visitors can experience how the unique physical space offered by sofas helps relieve tension and draw out more candid dialogue. The booth will also include many other experiential areas and product exhibits. “Igokochi Verification” is PLUS’s proprietary initiative to explore office comfort from both physical comfort created by furniture and environments, and social comfort shaped by how people interact with others. Through internal behavioral verification, experiential voting at exhibitions, web surveys, and other multifaceted methods, PLUS visualizes user needs and applies the findings to space proposals and product development tailored to individuals.
