This award recognizes Yamashita's significant contributions to promoting interest in wine culture and enhancing the international recognition and appreciation of French vineyards and wine, following the international acclaim and significant impact of the drama "Drops of God" in which he starred. The French Ordre du Mérite Agricole, established in 1883, is a historical and authoritative order awarded by the Government of the French Republic. Originally intended for agricultural workers, it is now also bestowed upon those who have made significant contributions to the development of French "food culture (gastronomy)" and the "wine industry," and their global dissemination.
