Buffalo Launches Two 8-Port Smart Switches for Businesses with All Ports Supporting 10GbE. PoE++ (IEEE 802.3bt) Models Also Available.

Buffalo Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroyuki Maki) will begin sequential shipping and sales in mid-August 2026 for two models of its 8-port Layer 2 smart switches for businesses, which support 10GbE on all ports: the standard model "BS-XS2008" and the PoE++ (IEEE 802.3bt) power-supplying model "BS-XS2008P".

These products are smart switches where all ports support high-speed 10GbE communication. Amidst the adoption of high-speed standard access points in offices and the increasing demand for high-capacity data communication, these switches resolve bottlenecks in the core network and provide a comfortable communication environment.

In compliance with the "JC-STAR" ★1 security requirement conformity assessment and labeling system, operated by the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA) under the leadership of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, these products meet appropriate security requirements, enabling the construction of a secure network environment.

As a remote management solution to reduce the burden of network operations, these switches support the free remote management service "KikiNavi" via the internet. This enables troubleshooting after deployment, monitoring of devices from remote locations, and simple operations for maintenance, significantly reducing the burden on device administrators.

Furthermore, the "BS-XS2008P" supports PoE++ (IEEE 802.3bt). It achieves a power supply capacity of 90W per port and up to 270W for the entire device. It can supply power to multiple network cameras and Wi-Fi access points that require high-output power, and power management is possible from the PoE switch. For the Wi-Fi 7 compatible business access points "WAPM-BETR" and "WAPM-BETRA" scheduled for release this fall, it can supply power to up to 6 units.

Additionally, it is equipped with a "PoE Powered Device Monitoring Function" that handles everything from the status monitoring to recovery of connected PoE-powered devices. By monitoring the communication status with PoE-powered devices via Ping or LLDP, and detecting a state where the device cannot communicate, it can attempt to improve the communication status of the PoE-powered device by notifying the user via Syslog forwarding and KikiNavi alerts, or by automatically resetting (rebooting) the PoE power supply.
