B-Style Media, part of the B-Style Group and operator of the job portal 'Shufu JOB' (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Kiyofumi Ishibashi), conducted a survey among 374 women regarding their perceptions of Father's Day involving their own fathers, fathers-in-law, or husbands. Along with the survey, the company shared realities of Father's Day in the Reiwa era as depicted in submissions to the 'Shufu Senryu 2026' Father's Day category.
The survey revealed that 46.5% of respondents view Father's Day as a day to express gratitude, and 49.2% celebrate it every year. The most common way to spend the day, at 44.9%, is 'giving a gift,' indicating that Father's Day is recognized and practiced as an occasion for expressing appreciation.
Meanwhile, the 'Shufu Senryu' submissions brought to light the authentic sentiments of households that are not visible through statistics alone, such as parent-child interactions unique to the AI era, the slightly bittersweet atmosphere within families, temperature gaps with Mother's Day, and fathers involved in housework and childcare.
The 'Shufu Senryu 2026' Father's Day category featured poems reflecting changes in the Reiwa era, such as parent-child interactions involving AI and the figure of fathers involved in housework and childcare. The grand prize-winning entry was: 'My child's letter / I cry, not knowing / it was AI-written.'
