The setting for this episode is Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo. At Hanazono Shrine, the general shrine of Shinjuku, Mugaku Tsukaji (Drunk Dragon) meets actor Eiichiro Funakoshi. Funakoshi, who actually lived next to the shrine during his youth, is an expert who knows the streets of Shinjuku inside and out. After visiting the shrine together, they stroll along, tracing memories, towards the area near Shinjuku Piccadilly, where Funakoshi used to frequent a soba restaurant every morning.
Meticulously crafted '8 Guiding Principles'! To the popular restaurant 'Yomoda Soba.'
The destination is the Shinjuku West Exit branch of 'Yomoda Soba,' which operates 11 stores primarily in Tokyo. It's a popular restaurant famous for its homemade noodles and Indian curry. Inside the store, '8 Commitments' are displayed, highlighting meticulous attention to detail from the soup, soba, tempura, to even the water.
Tsukaji and Funakoshi ordered the restaurant's most popular 'Extra Large Kaki-age Soba.' The kaki-age, made with plenty of domestic onions, offers a superb 'melty, crispy' texture and is incredibly generous in portion!
Another signature dish is the 'Authentic Japanese-style Indian Curry,' which surprised even Tsukaji, who exclaimed, 'The spices are potent!' Funakoshi, after trying a bite, was instantly captivated by its profound flavor, asking, 'What is this deliciousness! Can I have another bite?' Delivering 30 minutes of bliss in the heart of the city.
