His current job, commissioned by drug cartel leader Antonio Aram, is to trade cocaine and ancient statues in Beirut. While crossing the Sahara Desert, Max is ambushed by armed assailants and is rescued by a mysterious Briton named JJ. JJ, burdened by past trauma and having lost his will to live, begins to build friendship and trust with Max as they travel together. Upon arriving in Beirut, they discover that the ancient statues are actually highly enriched uranium, and Aram is plotting to manufacture nuclear weapons. US CIA agent Cathy Elliot, who has caught wind of the uranium deal, also begins her investigation.
