An immersive sauna facility, inspired by a profound experience at Antelope Canyon, is set to open soon in Niseko, Hokkaido.
BROOKLYN DESIGN Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shogo Takasaki) has been responsible for the spatial design of a sauna facility scheduled to open soon in the Niseko area of Hokkaido.
This project was born from our core philosophy:
"Connecting our clients’ stories into space."
The project began with a single client’s deeply moving experience.
When the client first visited Antelope Canyon in Arizona, USA, they were profoundly moved by the majestic natural scenery sculpted by time.
Curves in the earth carved over thousands of years by wind and water.
Rock surfaces that change expression with the time of day.
A space so fantastical and mystical it feels beyond nature.
This experience left a lasting impression, sparking the desire:
"I want to express this emotion in Japan."
"I want others who visit to feel the same sensation."
With these aspirations, the project began.
BROOKLYN DESIGN carefully listened to this vision, aiming not just to build a sauna, but to reconstruct the client’s memories and emotions into a tangible spatial experience.

Bringing nature’s art into architecture.
The design concept:
"Bringing the art created by nature into space."
Incorporating the organic curves and layered textures characteristic of Antelope Canyon, the design creates an immersive atmosphere akin to stepping into the Earth’s interior.
At the entrance, a massive rock formation welcomes visitors, with a cave-like approach marking the threshold into an extraordinary world.
In the lounge area, soft indirect lighting harmonizes with natural materials, offering a serene space for quiet reflection.
The cold plunge pool area features a mystical setting surrounded by rock textures, where light and water intertwine to create a dreamlike experience.
At the heart of the sauna room stands a symbolic stove, integrating heat, steam, and light into a unified sensory environment.
The entire facility is designed to guide visitors through a cohesive narrative journey.

Designer Shogo Takasaki’s Comment
Before we begin any design, we always listen to our client’s story.
Why do they want to create this space?
What scenery moved them? What emotions arose?
What kind of future do they envision here?
Hearing the client’s emotional experience at Antelope Canyon deeply moved me as well.
That’s why we didn’t just want to mimic shapes—we wanted to translate the very atmosphere and emotion into space.
What we aim to design is not just physical space.
We design human emotions.
I hope this sauna becomes a place where one person’s inspiration leads to another’s profound experience.
