Mobility Pilot Project Utilizing TOCKLE Launches in Yoro Keikoku Hot Spring Resort

BRJ Inc. Background: Yoro Keikoku is a popular tourist area with scattered scenic spots, hot springs, and gourmet food. However, 80% of tourists visit by private car, and 79% are day-trippers, leading to imbalances in transportation and stay duration. Leveraging insights from a 2025 pilot in Otaki Town, Chiba, BRJ is introducing electric-assist bicycles and three-wheeled electric seat boards to improve mobility between spots and revitalize the region while ensuring safety. Model Course: Visiting the photogenic Kannon Bridge and Shusse Kannon, hiking in the valley, and shopping at MUJI BASE OIKAWA and 'Kirari' Yoro Keikoku. Project Overview: Period: March 28, 2026 – May 31, 2026. Hours: 7:00–19:00. Location: Yoro Keikoku Station. Fee: 200 yen per 15 minutes. Eligibility: 16+ (no license required for seat boards). Vehicles: 10 electric-assist bicycles, 3 three-wheeled electric seat boards. Registration via the 'TOCKLE' app is required. Safety focus: 1. Rural focus: Addressing 'transportation deserts' where public transit is declining. 2. Geofencing: Automatically stops vehicles in restricted areas. 3. No night operations: Prohibited to ensure safety and prevent drunk riding.
