Project Overview: Opening in Shiga Prefectural Biwako Bunka Koen

This dual-store opening is a collaborative initiative under the Park-PFI system, led by Biwako Bunka Koen Yuyu Partners in partnership with Nichinichi Corporation.

Since 2022, Nichinichi Corporation has formed an exclusive business alliance with HIS Corporation, promoting international licensing and a domestic local ownership program called the '47 Prefectures Local PanEs Project.'

By continuously connecting the charm of 'Pan to Espresso to' with local regions, the company aims to stimulate economic, social, and cultural activities, elevate public enthusiasm, and contribute to sustainable regional development.

Aligned with this vision, two existing dining areas within Biwako Bunka Koen will be redeveloped into new cafes, leveraging the appeal of food to revitalize both the park and surrounding areas.

Through this collaboration, both companies aim to make bread, coffee, and other offerings accessible to all park visitors, enhancing convenience and satisfaction for a wide range of users.

Additionally, the cafes are expected to attract new visitors who previously had little reason to visit the park, thereby diversifying park usage and boosting overall activity.

About Biwako Bunka Koen

Established under the 'Biwako Bunka Koen City Concept' in 1979, the park is designated as a 'cultural cluster for art and education,' housing Shiga Prefecture's premier cultural and educational facilities within an urban park setting.

Serving as a green hub where residents can experience nature and culture, the park integrates rich satoyama forests, art museums, libraries, Japanese gardens, and tea houses into a comprehensive cultural complex.

Centered on the mixed forest of Setagayama Hill, the park focuses on green conservation and restoration, while also promoting satoyama preservation activities as spaces for human-nature interaction.

Store Details

Pan to Espresso to Biwako Bunka Koen An existing cafe within Biwako Bunka Koen has been renovated into a bakery.

The concept is 'Lunch Box in the Lawn.' The design maximizes the location adjacent to a vast lawn, featuring an iconic architectural style that treats the entire space as a single packaged experience.

The space evokes a friendly, playful lunch box placed within a lush green landscape.

The excitement of opening a box is translated into a spatial experience, aiming to become a beloved new resting spot within the park, offering rich moments cherished by the community over time.

Pan to Espresso to Seishoan The historic facility 'Seishoan,' resembling an old tea house within Biwako Bunka Koen, has been reborn as a new cafe.

The design concept is 'A Stone Garden Space That Extends from the Garden.'

Respecting the building’s historical charm, the design creates a seamless transition between the interior and the beautiful existing garden outside the windows. The interior itself is envisioned as a 'stone garden,' blurring the boundaries between inside and outside.

The space aims to offer a special place where visitors can enjoy a peaceful tea time while closely experiencing the changing seasons.
