Mother and Child Health Handbook App 'Boshimo' Launches in Shimabara City, Nagasaki Prefecture!

The mother and child health handbook app 'Boshimo', operated by Boshimo Co., Ltd., has been introduced in Shimabara City, Nagasaki Prefecture, and will be offered as 'Boshimo Mother and Child Health Handbook App' starting July 1 (Wed).

Shimabara City's basic philosophy is to 'create a town where all children and young people can grow up and live with peace of mind' and 'create a kind community where the entire region helps each other and supports parents and families.' To this end, the city is enhancing its support system to enable busy parenting families to face childcare with peace of mind and safety.

'Boshimo', which allows digital recording of paper mother and child health handbook data and is adopted by over 880 municipalities, has now been selected. The service will commence operations in line with the policy of promoting the use of electronic mother and child health handbooks and advancing mother and child health DX by the Children and Families Agency*1.

'Boshimo' is an app that easily supports vaccination schedules, health checkup result management, and regional information distribution via smartphones, tablets, and PCs. Data is stored in the cloud, serving as a backup in case of loss of the mother and child health handbook due to disasters, and also supports continued use when moving to another municipality or changing devices, allowing for worry-free usage.

◆'Boshimo' to be Offered in Shimabara City, Nagasaki Prefecture, to Support Children's Healthy Growth Regionally!

Shimabara City provides the 'Shimabara City Baby Support Fund' of 200,000 yen per child, with the main requirement being residency in the city for three years or more. This celebrates the birth of children throughout the region and supports childcare within the city.

Additionally, as part of the 'First Picture Book Support Project for Babies,' a 'Book Start Pack' containing picture books is distributed at the 3-month-old baby health consultation, along with readings by citizen volunteers. This initiative aims to create opportunities for emotional connection with children through picture books and support deeper parent-child communication.

To enable parenting households to utilize the city's initiatives more conveniently, 'Boshimo' has been adopted as a new tool for disseminating parenting information.

The 'Boshimo Mother and Child Health Handbook App', adopted by Shimabara City, is a service compatible with smartphones, tablets, and PCs. It offers a rich set of convenient features to assist mothers and fathers busy with childcare and work, including recording and managing health data for pregnant women and children, managing vaccination schedules, providing advice on childbirth and childcare, sharing functions with family members such as grandparents living far away, and notifying users of regional information distributed by the city.

The 'Dekiyodayo Kinenbi' (Milestone Day) feature, which can be used as a childcare diary, is created based on the sample formats for mother and child health handbooks from the Children and Families Agency. It allows users to record milestones related to child development and parenting, including the 'Parent's Record' section of the mother and child health handbook, along with photos and messages. It also serves as a guide for the child's growth and development.

Furthermore, in the event of social environmental changes due to factors like infectious diseases, the app can instantly deliver important information such as cautionary notices from the municipality and advice from public health nurses via text and video to those who need it, supporting an environment where childbirth and child-rearing can be done with peace of mind even in emergencies.
