The maternal and child health handbook application 'Boshimo', operated by Boshimo Co., Ltd., has been introduced in Kyogoku Town, Abuta District, Hokkaido, and launched on Wednesday, April 1 as the 'Kyogoku Maternal and Child Health Handbook App Marumo'.
In Kyogoku Town, under the basic philosophy of 'A town that gently nurtures child-rearing in the community', community development is promoted so that children grow up healthily and everyone, including the child-rearing generation, can continue to live as themselves, supporting each other.
This time, 'Boshimo', which allows data from paper maternal and child health handbooks to be recorded as digital data and has been adopted by over 830 municipalities, was selected and began operation in light of the Children and Families Agency's policy (*1) to promote the use of electronic maternal and child health handbooks and maternal and child health DX.
'Boshimo' is an app that easily supports the management of vaccination schedules and health checkup results, as well as the distribution of local information, via smartphones, tablets, and PCs. Because the data is stored in the cloud, it serves as a backup in case the maternal and child health handbook is lost due to disasters, etc., and can continue to be used when moving to other municipalities or changing devices, allowing for continuous use with peace of mind.
◆ 'Boshimo' starts in Kyogoku Town, Hokkaido, where a system to safely give birth and raise children is in place! In Kyogoku Town, the 'Kyogoku Town Children and Families Center Marutto' was newly established in January 2026 as a comprehensive support window spanning from pregnancy to child-rearing. As a place where anyone can easily consult about various contents such as anxiety about pregnancy and childbirth, worries about children, and difficulties in family communication, it provides seamless support for all pregnant women, children, and child-rearing households.
In addition to providing child-rearing support coupons (shopping vouchers) worth 30,000 yen per child, support systems that reduce the financial burden on child-rearing households are substantial, such as making medical expenses free for children from age 0 to 18.
This time, to allow child-rearing households to utilize the town's initiatives more conveniently, 'Boshimo' was adopted as a new tool for disseminating child-rearing information.
◆ Solid support for pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare with a community-based childcare app! The 'Kyogoku Maternal and Child Health Handbook App Marumo' adopted by Kyogoku Town is a service compatible with smartphones, tablets, and PCs. It has many convenient features to help mothers and fathers busy with childcare and work, such as recording and managing health data for pregnant women and children, managing vaccination schedules, providing advice on childbirth and childcare, sharing functions with grandparents living far away, and notifying regional information distributed by the town.
'I Did It Anniversary', which can be used as a childcare diary, was created based on the maternal and child health handbook format examples of the Children and Families Agency. It not only allows recording anniversaries related to developmental stages and childcare, including the 'Guardian's Record' of the maternal and child health handbook, with photos and messages but also serves as a guide for children's growth and development.
Furthermore, even when social environmental changes occur due to infectious diseases, etc., it supports the creation of an environment where people can give birth and raise children with peace of mind even in emergencies by immediately delivering important information, such as caution notices from the municipality and advice from public health nurses, via text and video through the app.
