Borderless City Inc. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Hidetaka Oshima), operator of Dantame! (https://www.dantame.com/), a restaurant reservation platform exclusively for travel agencies, has entered into a business partnership with Food Diversity Inc. (Taito-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Akihiro Shugo), which supports restaurants and lodging facilities in adopting diverse dietary options. Through this partnership, the companies aim to remove food-related barriers for inbound tours from various countries and promote an environment where all travelers can enjoy meals in Japan with confidence. The partnership is designed to create synergies between specialists in inbound tourism dining. As the number of foreign visitors to Japan rapidly increases, meal arrangement needs for inbound tours have become more diverse than ever, including vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free, and allergy-friendly options. Dantame!, operated by Borderless City, currently has about 3,000 registered travel agencies and handles group travel cases from 101 countries. However, a mismatch has emerged in the field between restaurants that must decline bookings due to a lack of knowledge about dietary diversity and travel agencies that cannot find suitable dining venues. This has created the issue of visitors becoming “meal refugees,” unable to choose meals satisfactorily during their stay in Japan. Under this partnership, Food Diversity’s expertise will be combined with Borderless City’s travel agency network to build an inbound reception system that works at a practical operational level. The main initiatives include: providing food diversity support to restaurants registered on Dantame!, such as menu development, manual preparation, and procurement support; offering matching opportunities to facilities already prepared for diverse dietary needs by increasing their exposure to approximately 3,000 travel agencies nationwide through Dantame!; and working with local governments and DMOs to improve regional inbound readiness through consulting that covers everything from awareness-building around dietary diversity to sales channel development with travel agencies. Going forward, the two companies aim to go beyond simple matching by standardizing food diversity support in inbound tours, thereby contributing to the competitiveness of Japan’s tourist destinations. Dantame! is Japan’s first restaurant reservation service exclusively for travel agencies. It is used in various situations, including inbound tours, company trips, corporate banquets, school trips, academic conference meals, and fan meetings. The service is used by about 3,000 travel agencies, partners with approximately 10,000 restaurants, and handles travel from 101 countries.
