Collaboration with Jimbocho Yoshimoto Manzai Theater! 8 Theater Comedians Seriously Select "Life-Changing Books"

Sanseido Bookstore Kanda Jimbocho Main Store and Jimbocho Yoshimoto Manzai Theater have teamed up to revitalize the Jimbocho area, launching a collaborative project. Capitalizing on the overwhelming proximity of a one-minute walk following the renovation of Sanseido Bookstore Kanda Jimbocho Main Store in March 2026, they aim to jointly create a "new way to enjoy the city."

As the first initiative of this partnership, from Monday, June 1 to Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the event "Comedians Seriously Select 'Life-Changing Books'" will be held. Embodying the concept of "a bookstore that expands your world as you walk," the first floor's "Connecting Bookshelf" will feature eight comedians affiliated with the theater who have earnestly selected books that have supported their values and lives. They will introduce these "genuine" books that shaped the roots of their humor or were encountered at life's turning points, accompanied by heartfelt handwritten POP displays. This project aims to mutually resolve the "declining reading" among younger generations and the "theater inexperience" among book lovers, creating a new cultural experience where fans of both intersect.

Starting with this event, the collaboration will continue with ongoing initiatives combining "books" and "laughter" to further enhance the Jimbocho brand. The participating comedians are: Universe Hara, Takioto Sasuke, Kabeposter Hamada Junpei, Maison Yoshino Oinari-kun, Kingyo Bancho Minowa Tomoyuki, Zero Karan Waki Yuta, Kyodai Koyo, and Nayuta Horikoshi. This is a valuable opportunity unique to Jimbocho to gain insight into their deep thoughts and intellectual sides as individuals, distinct from their glamorous stage personas.

Jimbocho Yoshimoto Manzai Theater Overview

Opened on January 29, 2020, this is a permanent theater in Jimbocho where young comedians of Tokyo Yoshimoto belong. Since April 2025, it has been operating with two theaters including Shibuya Yoshimoto Manzai Theater, holding variety shows and special performances by affiliated comedians. Comedians are divided into "Shou Members" (under 8 years of experience) and "Ki Members" (9 years or more). In addition to regular weekday live shows, they hold special performances and weekend/holiday variety shows. Featuring a wide range of comedians from the hottest young talents to popular performers, they deliver diverse entertainment including manzai, skits, solo acts, and game corners.
