As part of its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality, Boat Race has been conducting tests using "30% ethanol-blended gasoline (E30 gasoline)," an environmentally friendly fuel for racing motors, at BOAT RACE Biwako and BOAT RACE Omura since May 2025.
As a result of these tests, it was confirmed that there was no impact on the competition itself and no issues with navigation performance. Therefore, starting with the "Rookie Series No. 8: SKY PerfecTV! JLC Cup" at BOAT RACE Hamanako on April 9, 2026, we will sequentially introduce E30 gasoline in conjunction with the motor replacement schedules at each racing venue.
By using E30 gasoline, we anticipate a reduction in CO2 emissions of approximately 12–15% compared to the regular gasoline previously used. The entire Boat Race industry aims to realize sustainable motorsports.
