BMW & MINI Racing 2026 'DRIVER PROLOGUE': Two Selected Drivers Announced for the 2026 Season

The BMW & MINI Racing Committee (Operating Secretariat: Giomic Motorsport Co., Ltd. [Headquarters: Naka-ku, Nagoya, Aichi; Representative Director: Wataru Morishita]) has launched "DRIVER PROLOGUE," a support program for racing drivers, for the BMW & MINI Racing 2026 (BMR.2026) season.

This program centers on participation in the "MINI CHALLENGE JAPAN (JCW)," a JAF-certified one-make race category. It is a comprehensive support program that provides guidance not only in driving techniques but also in communication skills for sponsors, media, and motorsport fans, as well as career development necessary for sustaining racing activities.

Following a rigorous selection process, the BMW & MINI Racing Committee is pleased to officially announce the two drivers selected to participate in "DRIVER PROLOGUE" for the 2026 season.

In motorsports, the value required goes beyond lap times and race positions. To continue competing and advance to the next stage, it is essential to effectively communicate one's passion and growth process, building empathy and trust with personal sponsors, team sponsors, fans, and the media. "DRIVER PROLOGUE" aims to establish a new generation of racing drivers by supporting both racing experience and communication capabilities.

Yohei Ono

My name is Yohei Ono, and I will be competing in the MINI CHALLENGE JAPAN (MINI JCW class). I have been pursuing a challenge I never imagined possible: transitioning from a gamer to a racing driver. Throughout this journey, I have set my sights on competing in a manufacturer-backed race category, and I am truly honored to stand on this stage. As a member of "DRIVER PROLOGUE" by BMW & MINI Racing, I will not only focus on racing activities but also receive guidance on professional conduct and communication as a racing driver. I am also actively engaging in simulator training to improve both my communication skills and competitive performance. I am committed to delivering results on the track and striving to become a figure who can share the appeal of motorsports with society at large. I would like to express my gratitude to all the fans and sponsors who support me daily.
