BASE, Inc. announced that its online shop creation service “BASE” has launched “Shimonoseki BASE,” a select shop selling products from Shimonoseki, in collaboration with Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, on May 15. The initiative is the second project under BASE’s “Local Online Shop Concept,” which aims to revitalize regional economies through e-commerce. The “Local Online Shop Concept” is an initiative in which BASE works with local governments and companies to support regional businesses by helping them open online shops and create new sales opportunities. The first project was “Toyooka BASE,” launched in collaboration with Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, to support the sale of traditional and local products. Shimonoseki City has been promoting its “Oishimo! Tanoshimo!” project under a product branding strategy launched in 2024. The project has supported local certified businesses mainly through offline event participation and digital promotion, but the city needed an online sales hub that residents and consumers nationwide could access at any time. “Shimonoseki BASE” was therefore opened through collaboration between BASE and Shimonoseki City, with participation from businesses certified by the “Oishimo! Tanoshimo!” project. The shop is led by Tomoko Kasuga, representative of the gift shop “Magasan,” one of the certified businesses. Products sold on the shop are provided by certified businesses that have opened online stores using BASE. The shop also uses BASE’s “Sales Partner App,” an extension that enables consignment sales partnerships between BASE shops. This allows a shop to sell partner shops’ products without holding inventory, while the product provider handles production, inventory management, and shipping. “Shimonoseki BASE” began sales on May 15, 2026. Participating businesses include AWAKEN TOWN, KAGEN, Shimonoseki Suiriku Bussan, Shokutenchi, Hayashi Shoten, Food Tech, Fuji Coffee, Popolo, Magasan, Maazel Corporation, Murata Yutaka Shoten, Yamaka Soy Sauce, and Yamanishi Suisan. Shimonoseki Mayor Shintaro Maeda said he hopes the initiative will raise awareness of certified “Oishimo! Tanoshimo!” products and contribute to regional economic revitalization through expanded online sales channels. BASE business lead Shuhei Hayashida said the company hopes the initiative will help deliver Shimonoseki’s attractive local products to more people and support the revitalization of regional industries. BASE stated that it will continue working with local governments and companies to support regional businesses in opening online shops and expanding sales channels through e-commerce.
