Background
In recent years, with the popularization of IoT products, various devices in homes, businesses, and social infrastructure have been connected to networks, improving convenience and efficiency.
On the other hand, along with the increase in IoT products, the risk of becoming targets of cyberattacks is also rising, making ensuring security at the product level a crucial issue. Given this situation, JC-STAR was established in Japan as a labeling scheme to visualize compliance with security requirements for IoT products.
JC-STAR defines compliance labels according to the security level of the product, and acceptance for ★1 (Level 1) started in March 2025. While ★1 is a label that can be acquired through a self-declaration of conformity by the manufacturer, ★3 (Level 3), for which acceptance is scheduled to begin in the future, requires compliance with more advanced security requirements and necessitates a third-party assessment by a JC-STAR evaluation body.
Furthermore, as for the target products for ★3, the acceptance of communication devices and network cameras is currently scheduled to begin, and it is assumed that specialized security knowledge and verification environments will be required for the evaluation.

Utilizing our expertise as a JC-STAR verification provider, we support companies with preliminary checks and application preparations regarding the necessary actions to undergo the JC-STAR ★3 compliance assessment.
This enables the evaluation process to proceed smoothly.
Specifically, we conduct document reviews and actual device tests to grasp the compliance status of the products to be evaluated, clarify the interpretation of evaluation requirements, and design processes.
We also provide comprehensive support for a series of actions from application preparation to evaluation completion, including handling Q&A regarding the compliance evaluation by the evaluation body.
