Kuriyama Beika Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture, President: Taiga Kuriyama), a manufacturer and seller of rice crackers such as "Bakaouke," "Seto Shio," and "Hoshi Tabeyo," announced its initiatives for shifting to a "month/year best-before date" display and implementing logistics reforms at the "Information Session on Initiatives for Preventing the Generation of Food Waste, etc." hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) on March 5, 2026 (Thursday).

This information session is held with the aim of sharing initiatives and challenges for reducing food loss among stakeholders in the food industry and government, and promoting the prevention of food waste generation. On the day, as part of "Case Study Reports," the company introduced its efforts to reduce food loss and improve logistics efficiency, including the ongoing shift to month/year best-before dates and the promotion of palletized transportation.

Our Initiatives In response to labor shortages in the logistics industry and the "2024 Logistics Problem," our company is promoting food loss reduction and logistics efficiency through the following measures:

・Shifting to Month/Year Best-Before Dates By changing the display from a daily basis to a monthly/yearly basis, we enhance flexibility in handling during distribution and sales, contributing to food loss reduction. ・Promoting Palletized Transportation By promoting palletization in transportation from factories to logistics hubs and delivery destinations, we achieve efficiency in handling operations and reduce truck waiting times. ・Extending Lead Time By reviewing the period from shipment to delivery, we contribute to the optimization of distribution and the reduction of waste risk.
